Happy Halloween!

Thomas' First Halloween

We spent the morning at Mother Goose reading time at the library.
Thomas LOVED it! He wanted to sit with the older kids (2-3 yr olds) next to
the teacher! We will go every week!

Next, we played at the park that is across the street from the library! Thomas LOVES to swing!

This evening we put Thomas in his little chick costume and took him for a walk
throughout the neighborhood. We went trick-or-treating at a few houses.

Finally, we passed out candy to trick-or-treaters!

We love our little chick!

8 Months!

Thomas, you had your 8th Monthday on October 23rd!

(My parents stayed with us last week, and my dad asked me if Thomas just had a "monthday".)

You are 8 months old! Mommy and Daddy can't believe it (we say this every month)!

Warning: Lots of Pictures!

We are guessing you weigh around 17 pounds.
You are wearing size 6-9 month clothing and 9 month clothing.
You are wearing size 3 diapers.

You are still eating 6 oz every 3-4 hours during the day. Some nights you eat 8 oz before you fall asleep!
You eat 2-3 meals of baby food a day depending on long you nap. You take one long nap and sometimes you will take a short nap late in the afternoon. You sleep through the night (8pm-8am) the majority of the time. Every now and then you will wake up in between 11pm-12am.

Developmentally: You have your first tooth! You are still saying "dada" all the time! You discovered how to go from laying down to sitting up. (I love finding you sitting up in your crib just smiling after you take a nap or wake up in the morning!), you are crawling, you reach for us when you want to be picked up, and when someone asks you "where is dada or mama?", you look at us.
You love music and love for us to sing to you. After we stop singing, you will make vocalizations & keep making them until we start singing again. You are trying to pull yourself up to a standing position.
And our favorite is you learned how to give kisses when we ask "Can I have a kiss?" You play a game mainly with your daddy where you turn your head away from him when he asks for kisses! And then you smile! (Can you say ORNERY!)

Three word to describe your personality this past month: playful, fearless, and inquisitive.

We have started using simple sign language with you this past month. We are showing the signs for milk, bath, more, and dog.

Favorite things: seeing your daddy when he comes home from work, you LOVE watching the dogs, music, climbing on pillows and large stuffed animals, bath time, swinging, and going for walks

Dislikes: still getting your face washed after you eat baby food

You tried to eat your sticker this month!

We LOVE you so much baby boy!

Lauren

Fall Festival

We attended a Fall Festival this weekend. There wasn't much for Thomas to do but he did enjoy the petting zoo and watching all of the other children!

These chickens were black and white. I have never seen chickens like these before.
They were very cute!

There were also goats at the petting zoo. One lady was petting a goat, and it jumped out of its cage!

*Today was OSU's homecoming weekend! We won our football game against the Baylor Bears!
Go Pokes!

Bible Study

I recently joined a bible study group at a local church that meets once a week. I have really enjoyed getting to know the other ladies in the group, and Thomas loves playing with other babies in the nursery!

Our bible study is about marriage, and we are reading Women Making a Difference in Marriage.

Here are a few things I have learned so far...

God never intended that another person would meet the needs only He can meet.

When you realize that your true worth & significance come only from God, then you are free to love your husband despite what he may do or say.

Satan opposes marriage.

Who we are on the inside, always has a way of showing up on the outside.

You don't have to feel love before you show love.

When difficulties arise, God is concerned with what is in our hearts, our attitudes, & our  motives rather than with getting us quickly out of a situation.

The following is something I want to remember:
When I picked up Thomas from the nursery the first time, one of the ladies in his room told me "He done good. He done real good."

The second time I picked up Thomas, the same lady told me "He done ok. He done ok today." He was a little fussy right after I dropped him off. I think he was teething.

Here is Thomas about 15 minutes after we leave the church:

Our week

We spent a lot of time playing! I think Thomas looks like a "big" baby boy in the first photo.

Molly, our watch dog!

Thomas learned a new trick!

Tiny T had a stomach bug this week but he is feeling much better now. Brandon and I have had colds this week.

Even though he had a stomach bug this week, Thomas still had tons of fun during his bath!
